I am going out of town for a few days by myself (grandma's memorial service) and have lots of airplane/airport time and thought I might tackle one of these books I have laying around that I never have time to read. But can't decide which to read. None of them are grabbing me but I am sure they would be good. Anyone want to recommend one?
Life of Pi by Yann Martel
Long Way Down by Nick Hornby
Broken Music by Sting
Homesick by Sela Ward
Confederacy of Dunces by John Kennedy Toole

You haven't read A Confederacy of Dunces yet?? It's good, but not the easiest read. I've heard Life of Pi is good.
I have a huge stack, but blogging keeps getting in the way.
So sorry about your grandmother.
How timely you should ask! (See my post today about my top ten NOLA reads). LOVE Confederacy of Dunces! But really enjoyed Life of Pi, too. Completely different, but both good.
i came over here from Nola's blog. If you haven't read Toole yet, bump "Dunces" to the top of the list!
No, MAMMA, I haven't read Dunces yet! I know, I know, but I am not from here and it wasn't required reading in my schools! Based on the responses here and at NolaNote's post: http://www.nolanotes.com/2008/03/31/top-ten-nola-books/
I will be reading it this weekend!
Thanks ya'll!
Just lend me whatever book when you are done. I haven't read any of them!
Hello. This post is likeable, and your blog is very interesting, congratulations :-). I will add in my blogroll =). If possible gives a last there on my blog, it is about the TĂȘnis e Sapato, I hope you enjoy. The address is http://tenis-e-sapato.blogspot.com. A hug.
Life of Pi. Confederacy of Dunces is fantastic, and I think you'll get a great view of the city...but Life of Pi is a great mind-goes-away read. Twists & turns, gentle, in all, pretty amazing. Leave Confederacy to a hot July afternoon with an Abita. ;) I've updated my blog too. Hells wuz poppin'...;) We plan on coming home again soon... - A
